ok i know its prob. somewhre in here but i'm just to darn lazy to search for it but just wondering if there was anyway to mount a cb above the rearview mirror without buying tuffys overhead console or something of the sort. i have a Cobra 40 channel with the weather channel and all the goodies.. but just curious if there was a way without having to shell out 300 for the console after the almost 200 dollars for the cb

That is a nice mount, but you can do it yourself also. Here's mine.

if you buy a small enough cb and a right angle adapter for the antenna cable you can mount it right to the plastic fairing above the rearview mirror, thats how mine has been for well over a year now and it works perfectly

out of curiousity, are all the bells and whistles of those big fancy cb's necessary in a jeep?

Nope, although some of them can be peaked and tuned to get a longer range

I took some aluminum tube, four 90* brackets, hose clamps, and can of duplicolor bed liner and made my own drill-free mount. I had all of it laying around minus the can of bed liner (which was more expensive than I remember it). It does not rattle, and required no holes in the Jeep or any other changes. Unscrew two hose clamps, unscrew the coax, and unplug the weatherproof quick disconnects I made and the hole assembly comes out. You can then stuff the wires in the plastic molding over the window.

I used two 90* brackets to mount the CB to the bar instead of the bracket it comes with so it would be tighter and closer to the bar:

Here it is after being sprayed with bed liner(Left): ************* The clamps fit in front of the freedom panel alignment pins, the rollbar pads cover them(Right):

I used the ARR mount for both the CB and the 2 meter rig

I stil think 2 screws does the job just fine and is a lot cheaper
