Never really been stuck stuck. Just not moving too much in any direction. This is about the closest I've gotten and it eventually turned into a self rescue. I just didn't have anything to grab onto and I was sliding into the water.

Haven't been stuck in the JK yet, but here is one of my 03 Rubi at the Badlands after an obvious rain..... Wasn't totally stuck, just couldn't get over the hump in the middle because the tansfer case shovel underneath was getting hung up on that hump in front of the Jeep just enough to keep me from moving any further,,,so yeah, I guess thats stuck....:thefinger: I actually made trhough worse that day, just a bad angle and the shovel screwing me over

Yeah, I know- it's "on the list". A winch though even here wouldn't have helped. At least not without one of those anchor things, and even that would have been a problem. What you don't see in the pic is my front end "snow plowed" a wall of clay to the front of the rig that was not able to be overcome, even with a winch.

Haven't had the JK stuck yet. This was in the pinelands. It doesn't look that bad but his wheels were just sitting in water, his frame was on the mud the whole length of the Pathfinder and I couldn't get any traction in my Explorer to pull him out. After about 2hrs of trying a big ass pickup was driving by and was able to get him out

Just to give you an idea... Snow was completely packed around the front axle, and the front tires were about 4" away from any traction. Had to dig back about 90 feet to get a good run with the Jeep in reverse.
May not have looked like much, but it was much deeper and luckily we got stuck in the "shallow" stuff, was about 4 feet deeper just another 90 feet down the road.

If you're referring to my pics, we got a jack under it and put rocks under the tires and drove out. We also used a sledge to knock down part of the dirt/rock bank to avoid body damage.

I've got some free stock bumpers with some nifty rash if anyone wants them. :laughing2::laughing2::laughing2:

That would have to suck, specially when someone else is there to laugh "at" you.

When I first bought the dodge 1 ton it was 4wd and a quad cab with those skinny crappy tires, well rolling into the subdivision there was a new pile of mulch that we use for epa silt containment, well boredome got the better of me and it rolled right up to the top with no problem, then convieniently at the peak someone pulled the sheet out from under me an "whhomp" right on the frame, i was real emabarrased, hell it was only hours old... ahh the things that you can look back now and laugh at huh?

Lemme also add that I was the only one out there. Had to hike to get cell reception, finally got ahold of Jessi's towing and got pulled out an hour later, and 200 bucks outta my pocket. I coulda bought a used winch for f*** sakes. Also to make the day worse, i got bit in the ass by a wasp in the port o bathroom!

I got nowhere real fast in this hole. Enigmaverse winched me out, then he thought it would be a good idea to drive through it himself. Then he winched himself out. Then I drove through it again and he winched me out again. You would think we would have learned after getting me out the first time. What a pain in the ass all this was.

Man!!!...I went through 3ft of water and had the drain holes clog in the air box...Motor hydra-locked and right now I have a new motor and I am getting gears installed on Tuesday...

When the motor locked it snapped the #6 connecting rod, punched 3 holes in the bottom of the adapter for the oil pan and toasted my clutch...I thought something had let loose in the tranny since it was making a noise at 2000rpms that sounded like it was coming apart...Come to find out the tranny (6spd) is a Mercedes tranny and there was nothing wrong with it...Cost me $800 to find that out...After that was done I found a cracked tooth on my pinion gear in the rear axle...:shaking::bawling:

I will definatley be staying away from ANY water until after I have a snorkle!!!!

I was diggin through some archive photos and ran across one; this was won of my bad day's back in '96. We were crossing the Krosa River just south of a Glacier I can't spell and the Blazer stalled in the river. I broke the axle trying to pull him out. The monster in the background gave us a tug and went about his deliveries. In Iceland this was a posted road and crossing with caution signs. Took a day of driving to get town and back for a replacement axle we were off the next morning. Ohh Memories.:)

Ha! I don't have a pic, but I pulled a similar stunt with my TJ when I had it. The mud/water came right up to the door, and the Jeep's tires weren't even resting on the bottom. No winch on that bad boy, but luckily I was wheeling with a friend that had a monster Bronco that pulled me out. Saw your pic and nabbed the memories!

I am curious to know if anybody has thought to or even tried to take the breather lines from the axles and tie them into either a snorkel directly or into the airbox? I figure if done right that would fix the water issue pretty effectively. Anybody?

Of course, it's been done. Tkob eluded to it earlier. There's actually a kit that River Raider sells to do it. It's been done w/ and w/o that kit, though. It's really not a painful procdedure. You just gotta get under there and do it and not procrastinate (like me).

Not me stuck, but my buddy's '85 4Runner was.

Long story short, let his friend drive, the guy wasn't used to the truck. Flopped it, damage was to windshield and above the drivers-side window frame. If it wasn't for the roof-rack and internal roll-cage, would have been far far worse.

In the end, he got a donor cab from a friend, had it removed/replaced/welded/primed/painted in a couple days, all for under $300.
