Eugene 12-22-2010, 09:28 PM What kind of pets do you have, and do you take them wheeling? Rrauzer and I got talking about Jeep dogs and I was wondering what we all have. Does anybody have a Jeep cat? That would be cool. I'm thinking about a getting a Schnauzer and making it my Jeep/camping pal. What do you all think?
rubirobv 12-22-2010, 09:35 PM I have a trail bunny named Stew. I haven't brought her along yet as she's not quite fat enough.

cruzcode 12-22-2010, 10:03 PM I had a rabbit, that is until one of our members boiled it!

rubirobv 12-22-2010, 10:17 PM You think I'm kidding. Here's my girl. We also have two cats. A MaineCoon and a Grey Tabby that just turned 20yrs. The old man gets respect. He was a beast in his day. Both cats give the bunny much respect. She doesn't take any shit.

Eugene 12-22-2010, 10:20 PM Is that rabbit related to the rabbit in 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'?
rubirobv 12-22-2010, 10:55 PM She is a decendant of that foul, cruel and bad tempered rodent. :D. She bit me once and she attacks my wife all the time.

Man, we had a rabbit when I was growing up. She was a tough nut too. Put her on a leash tied to a 2x4 in the backyard so we catch her when time for her to come back inside. She'd drag that 2x4 everywhere. Think it just toughened her up ala Rocky IV. Were a bit worried about the stray cats, but once saw through the windows before we could do anything, a cat try and sneak up on her. At last moment - hand to god - she did a jump/flip, pounced on the cat and chased it until the leash ended. Not worried after that. Another time, stupid me tried to scare her by sneaking up and grabbing her haunches. She did that jump/flip, grabbed my finger, started growling and shaking her head back and forth w/ finger in mouth like a rabid dog. Badass bunny! :scary:
I take my two schnauzers everywhere. Backpacking, camping, roadtrips. New jeep, haven't gone offroading yet, but they will go too. Have to figure out a harness setup for the wobbling. They are great guard dogs too. I have no fear w/ them around. I'll throw up pics later.

Family-jk 12-23-2010, 07:32 AM Here is my trail dog. Bull "Dozer". Usually comes on all our trips, other than this last Hollister run as he has stitches in his lower eye.
JKDinker 12-23-2010, 07:37 AM Here is 1 of our dogs. Sketch. Here is about to jump in the pool to get his ball. He is a herder (Border Collie). And what ever you do don't try to go down the stairs in front of him. Been on my ass more than once.

Marcy 12-23-2010, 08:28 AM This is my crazy dog, Roskoe. He likes to ride in the Jeep but can't be trusted off a leash... He has a lust for the open road.

RRauzer 12-23-2010, 02:40 PM Just made them pose!
Blaz (Standard Schnauzer) - he's smart and the bossman, smacks Anna around.

Anna (Giant Schnauzer) - super sweet though not the sharpest knife in the drawer sometimes.

Great off leash dogs, take them backpacking and snowshoeing all the time. Downside, beards get stuff in them all the time.
Eugene, let me know when you get serious about a Standard (or Giant?), and I'll hook you up with some good info.
JKDinker 12-23-2010, 08:19 PM Here is a picture of some of our kitty cats. They still scare the dogs!

IBROCUN 12-23-2010, 08:43 PM I have a "step-dog" that I'm looking forward to wheeling with. He belongs to my sister, but we've sort of adopted him. He's great around people, especially kids. But he's super dog-aggressive so I'm worried about taking him on trips where other dogs might be.

Fnord5 01-29-2013, 03:53 PM Can Anna jump like Blaz?
He must have a 6foot vertical leap.
RRauzer 01-29-2013, 04:08 PM Nope. I tried teaching her to jump in my arms like him, but it never took. Her only parlor trick is digging to China while at the beach or in the snow. Seriously, she dug a 4 ft deep hole once in the sand.
cjcraig7 01-29-2013, 04:58 PM MAC....

Hard to take MAC wheeling with all the dogs on the trail that are off lease and/or uncontrolled. He is not a happy dog when cornered.
Otherwise loves people, especially those with a good pitching arm.

Your cute dog, almost blew my knee out, last summer when we were at the resort. Jeff ,hoggstatus, tossed a ball and your puppy tore through my leg chasing after it. That guy is all muscle.

JeepingGreen 01-30-2013, 10:49 AM Here's mine.. Doozy hasn't been off-roading yet (at least nothing "serious"). Hoping he does ok. He loves the Jeep, that's for sure.

cruzcode 01-30-2013, 06:56 PM I picked up a Monkey Hitchhiker one time, that wanted to go wheeling. With no top or doors, I explained that seatbelts were not optional.

My wheeling buddy, 1 year old Scottish terrier. Does great off the leash 80% of the time, the other 20% he is a stubborn little dude and doesn't want to listen.
