I think there are probably more things we need to do to are rigs than we actually seem to get done.
I need to fix my front diff cover drip, the charcoal can that I busted at Carnegie, wire up my lights, replace the shocks, and rebuild the front susupension. Probably more but that's it for now.

Just got back from an oil change at the Chrysler Dealership. My rig has 47,000 miles on it and they are claiming that my power steering fluid and brake fluid is dirty. They want $800 to change it out. No fucking way would I pay for a service that can be done in the garage. Typical dealer trying to rip people off. Just a way for them to cancel your warranty because they can now claim that my power steering pump went out as a result of not changing my oil when they recommended me to do so. I call it a scam. Okay sorry this should be on the vent thread as well, but to stay on topic I need to add this to my (what I need to do but haven't got around to it yet). :pissed:

I hate when they do that crap. They are all just looking to make a$$ (a lot of $$$$$$$$$$). Just keep your recipes and write it in your service record report in your owners manual and you should be OK.

Just drop the tank skid and beat it back out. I have done it quite a few times. On my Later On list I am going to skin the bottom of my gas tank skid with 3/16th plate.

Done that. Still have a solid dent in the plastic, and it doesn't take long for the skid to dent the same even easier. I need to skin mine too, $400 for a skid is hard to swallow

Exactly why I am going with the 3/16th. I can get enough down at the local hardware store to skin it myself for about $50 and that pluss the stock skid should be more than enough.

In no particular order:

1. Remove front 1" TF spacers that I forgot to remove when I did the RK 3.5 springs. I have a reverse rake now and my axle is shifted. (Yes, I'm a dope)

2. Replace kinked steel winch-line with synthetic

3. Sleeve front axle

4. Remove all carpets and bedline interior

5. RR weld-in cage

6. Fix E-brake

7. Fix horn (it's dead and I've almost been run off the road twice this week by "texters")

8. Wash and wax it before the snow and salt come.

9. RK front UCAs

WHAT?? WHY?? your shit is still having issues? EVO SHOULD HAVE MADE EVERYTHING CORRECT!!

it's not evo's fault, Jeff. i took the jeep on a shake down run and decided to rock crawl in the rock piles at PC. well, i managed to get the front end hung up with a huge rock pushing the tie rod up, which pushed up into the SS that dented it and caused it to leak.

suprisingly, it drove home ok. i definately could feel the jeep wanting to go into a wobble a couple of times but thankfully, it never did.

it's not evo's fault, Jeff. i took the jeep on a shake down run and decided to rock crawl in the rock piles at PC. well, i managed to get the front end hung up with a huge rock pushing the tie rod up, which pushed up into the SS that dented it and caused it to leak.

suprisingly, it drove home ok. i definately could feel the jeep wanting to go into a wobble a couple of times but thankfully, it never did.

Ok....yeah I know all about that problem!! Mines been straightened more that once!!

Gents, I have a factory tie-rod that I can donate for the greater good, if someone needs it.

For that matter, I have two factory driveshafts as well, if someone needs them.

I like Bud Light Lime and Stella Artois. :grinpimp:

Let me know if you need another option, I have a spare in my garage too. Probably not as good as Ricks, but my spare was straight enough to get the JK aligned.

I'm going to run 32s until they are dead because I want to put snows on my stock wheels. Once the 32s are dead I'll buy a set of 35s, beadlocks, lift, and rear bumper. I'm going slowly go larger in tire size because I don't want the jeep to out-perform my driving ability (which is really poor) any more than it already does.

There are also probably a million other odds and ends I'm missing.

Phase 1 - Winter
- Line-X Jeep
- Tuffy Lockable Rear Trunk (replaces rear seat)
- Tuffy Console to mount CB into

Phase 1 - Spring
- Warrior Half Doors
- Ebay TJ Mirrors for half doors
- Seat Covers
- ARB Air Compressor
- ARB Diff Covers
- Flat Fenders (undecided)

Phase 2 - Summer
- Front Bumper (PJ/Evo/Benchmark/psc)
- Winch
- Evo 4wd selector
- Something fun for the 6speed
- Darke or other metal pedals
- (may need a leveling kit depending on bumper)

Phase 3 - Fall
- U-Connect
- Quality marine grade speakers
- Hardwire for my portable GPS
- Benchmark dual battery system

Phase 3 - Winter
- Snow tires (probably 32s for mpg)
- Tint windows on doors and hard top
- Fog Lamps
- Rocket box + no drill way to mount it to hard top

Phase 4 - Spring 2
- TeraFlex Long Arm Kit
- 35s
- Beadlock wheels

Phase 5 - Summer 2
- Rear corner guards
- Rear Bumper (Benchmark/evo/psc)
- Other Lights
- Rock Light LEDs

Hey Monty, You may be experiencing BumpSteer. When you hit a bump or pothole, the jeep will buck a little bit. Also happens when the track bar and drag link are not close to parallel. The stabilizer will dampen that.

I've seen a bunch of the DIY systems and 99% of them look like shit. I have no painting experience, no spray booth, no spray gun. I'll leave it to the pros.

6. armor the damn thing (difs, gas tank, oil pan, etc)
7. locker for the front

9) Tune shift points in Superchips Flashpaq
10) Audio system upgrades (to be used with #1 on "optional list" below)

Optional List:

:thefinger: I was just messing with you - I couldn't resist after reading your preemptive disclaimer! I actually got my jeep rhinolined at a shop in South SF (I can give you the info in you're interested). I decided to go rhinolining instead of line-x. It is less durable, but the jeep tub doesn't need to be durable like a truck bed and it is more rubbery / less sandpapery.

Re: Armor -- Take a look at my build page, if you'd like. I may have pics of the RROR skid system on it, and I really like them. You're good to receive a hit underneath your rig from a grenade or landmine. If you take fire above your rig, you're fucked though. :D

Re: sPOD -- YES-POD! One of my best purchases for my rig. My factory wiring is all in tact, and everything is wired to the source of the sPOD. Money, but it's money well spent.

I may hold off on any more mods and just stick to maintenance. A combination of 80K miles, a recent $2K+ repair bill for the fn computer :pissed: and the Pentastar coming out next year has me thinking seriously of buying a 2012 Rubicon for my DD.

If I could keep it, I'd install some heavy duty skid plates and a Hemi to pull the extra weight around.

2008 Rubicon 2 door hardtop
6 speed
AEV 3.5 Premium Lift
35" GY Kevlars
ARB Deluxe Front Bumper
