I actually like the concept because , since we l alhang out together or will in Nor Cal. We go through periods of time when we lose connection with people we have wheeled with and the progress of their Jeeps. I think your right when its on the whole board and people are posting up things that most of the forum can't relate to.

So heck yeah , Nor Cal what have you done beacause I still haven't cleaned my Jeep since the Con trip all the way. Maybe after Thanksgiving.

Ha! Got 6 of them. 37's. 2 are brand new and the other 4 are 80%. Todd at Jeep Speed called me at home to buy them. He has 1st dibs. If he fails they are for sale. I was all for MTR's till I saw yours in the Rubicon. Also, Mel at Offroad Evolution said they lost 4 of them on the JK Experience so I went a different route. IROK radials. E rated. Then.....of course we were looking at the fabulous job and discovered that my right U-joint was blown. After about two hours of diligent phone calls by the awesome crew at proline accessories a replacement was found and installed. Then we discovered the stubby shaft u joint holes were bored out so J welded the caps to the stubby shaft and now the jeep feels like brand new. I owe J big time for all the extra work on his day off and proline always goes above and beyond for thier customers!!!

i like mine too and want to go bigger....but im thinking of dumping them because everytime the trail gets icy/hard in the snow...they just dig down...
now it could be the width 13.50...it could be the tread pattern...or the fact that im open...but it seems like some people with the same setup (different tires) float over the snow while i just dig...Feedback? if i lived in the bay still i would run these all day but up here theres snow all around us...so i think i might need a better snow tire...as for Heavy snow...they rock! they also dont seem to self clean in snow as well as others...

Mix in a dose of overinflated tires (the first time), a splash of stopping the rig in the wrong place at the wrong time and a heaping of me not babying the pedal enough. Yea, I spun three times. Ray was a snow god w/ his KM2s. Maybe I'll downgrade to 35s! :grinpimp:

I wouldn't put too much weight in my outing. I think the GENERAL consensus out there is the KM2 are a bit better in the snow than the Toyo's (yea, of course there are some peeps that will argue that - just seems in my reading of snow posts the edge goes to KM2s...)

Replaced a smashed LR shock. It was still working and hadn't leaked but I thought
it needed some attention. Ran it like this for 2 months. Rusty's shock may be inexpensive
but they can take some punishment. It was about 1 1/2 year old so it served me well.
Added Rusty's extended sway-bar links for the rear. Made some simple drop brackets
for rear brake lines. Bought my Hi-Lift Jack for the hood, since I won the Warrior Products
January giveaway. :bounce:The wife liked the fact I got something free and then went
out to buy something else to make it function. It's a Jeep so she knows how it works. ;)

Jim,

Your front & rear steering & suspension is now ROCK SOLID. Between all of the items that you added, plus the trackbar reinforcement welding you had done to your Rear 44, you're going to be good. The Poly ball-joints seems really solid, and after it was all together it looks like your geometry is just right (in terms of the relative positioning of your drag link & track bar).

Get that beotch aligned, and let's see how she drives and wheels!

The secret to snow is low tire pressure. Everyone knows about sand and needing low pressure. Snow needs even lower pressure!
Tire differences are in reality about finding that right pressure for those tires.

As you can see, the shock no longer is lower that the control arm mount and eliminates snagging on the rocks. Also works as a skid plate. This is a must as It seems like a likely spot to hit. Pretty easy install. Just need a grinder.

Warrior Products did a giveaway for January that I won!!!! They gave away winch rollers and a Hi-Lift Hood Mount. I won the hood mount. I did have to go out and buy a Hi-Lift. That's when my wife said, "You need a jack on your hood? I guess that is a good thing in the Jeep world." Yes, Honey it is! She is a good wife so she just says it's your Jeep do what you want. Flowers at work for Valentines is a winner guys!

I will say that it is a very well built mount. They put in a tube where the bolt goes through to strengthen the design. The bolts are allen heads to make a cleaner look and less available to remove than an adjustable wrench. I was surprised that the hood didn't seem that much heavier when you lift it. It is so far back on the hood it makes sense, but was still surprising considering how much the jack weighs. It took all of 10 minutes to install, so there is nothing technical. I used an extra spider ball loop to separate the handle from the jack to keep it secure and quiet. Normally I would have put my jack inside but it's a jack so if it needs some care I will take it off and hit it with some paint or oil to keep it functioning properly. I did also put a cable through the mount and jack to help keep it locked in place for someone less honest. I don't think my wiper spray will clear the mount, so I will need to get a generic sprayer at the auto store to make it reach the windshield. I might actually be able to improve the spray pattern. I don't use it much so it's not that critical to me.

I decided to investigate the rust rings around my windshield hinge.

I took them off and what do I find? The underside of the hing cover is covered in rust where they forgot to paint. So I fixed that problem.

I'll need to spend more time and clean up the front but I ran out of day light.

I also ordered front bumper, safaristraps, and mopar tailgate retainer.

Lift, flat flares, and 37" MTRs (just to be different, sorry KM2 folks) are next on the hit list.

I'll have to do what Jeff does and put my spare in the trunk until I get enough money for a tire carrier.

I don't "have" to re-gear with a 6speed.
However, in the future that should probably happen.

ya depending on the size 4 wheel parts in sac said they could get them in a few days...4.10's in a 6 speed i would think wouldnt be too bad...4.88's or 5.13 would probably take some stress off down the line.....also from what ive seen the MTR seems to be a light tire with little roll resistance once you get them turning...

Looks like I can do front and rear with install kits for around 500.
However, I imagine labour is going to be a bitch.

Piecing together superior from various vendors
410 for front/rear gears
200 for install kits

In addition I managed to wet sand my paint for a show room look and add few more fresh coats of herculiner to my custom bumpers, frame, and suspension parts. finally went one step further and invented a new storage trunk for 2 door jk with seat removed. works great to hide things under and doubles cargo capacity and provides a wall to enclose a rear subwoofer system. enjoy! feels good to have the jeep back in pristine order. ready for moab this summer!! next weekend custom spare tire carrier!
