Curious if anyone might be interested in a wrenching party in the coming weeks? I have a few maintenance concerns I need to take care of (maybe a few more after the Rubicon this weekend)..

Anyway, the last one we had went swimmingly.. :massey:

I'm thinking maybe the 13th or the 20th - Bay Area..

Sounds like fun, let me check my schedule.......

schedule= Wait for him to get back from the Rubicon and see exactly what got f'd up and needs fixing:grinpimp:

If I can make it I could help. A chance to meet new people. keep us informed

Hehe, good point! A few things I need to do/get done (regardless of Rubicon damage) are: New muffler (mine rattles and I'm sick of my Jeep sounding like a moped), front driveshaft, control arm skid plates & xfer case/trans fluid change..

The date is still up in the air.. This is just a "feeler" thread - to see if there's enough interest.. It seems like there is - now we just need to decide on the place and the date...

I thought I had posted these pics on my site but I hadn't.. Anyway, here are some shots of the last Meet/Greet/BBQ/Wrenching party... Yep, there's even 1 of Blueberry Pie! Still has the window sticker on it... It was a GREAT time - even if just to watch, munch and drink!

Damm, I seriously think I have drilled over 100 holes into my body and frame combined. It get easier after the first one but its still always stresfull. Its just metal. I put my evo skins on with my 13 yr old son holding them up and me screaming at him to hold it steady so I could mark the pilot holes. Poor guy. Out of 30 something holes we only screwed one hole up. A real Wrenchfest is.......
....Where the the progress made is inversely proportional to the amount of beer drank, and where the vehicles owner wishes every one would just go home.

...It's where, when your done, something is either scratched or broken and every one pats you on the back and tells you "It'll buff out" of "You didn't need that (insert part here) anyway"

...Is when the people who really know what they are doing sit back and quietly watch while the sidewalk superintendant, who has actually never held a wrench, tells people how it should be done. Then he shows them...which leads to the previous example.

...As it gets dark and your not finished because you have had to re-do everything two or three times, people start looking at their watches and say 'Ooh,look at the time, I have to get home to walk my um...err.. hamster' or 'You look like your about done so I'll be heading home' leaving you with an unfinished project and a mess to clean up. Did you know that people working on projects can only drink half a can of whatever. You find the left over beverage cans in the most unusual places.

Now I'm not saying that the above will happen, but I've seen it.....trust me.

He makes a compelling argument..seeing as i hang out on both forums WAY too much i have seen what your saying...it seems that if you are well known
your seen as a promoter of your Region...a good old Socal vs Norcal thing going on...on one hand none of the socal buisnesses want to lose out on anything, on the other it doesnt make for a comfortable playing field..Sorry if im just stating the obvious:smokin: I am happy for the both forums i just wish the almighty $$ didnt get so much pull on what parts are reccommended or who has authority to say it...i mean you can barely post a question about a part on there without vendors on there jumping in line..Im in sales, i look at this a my relaxation im not into being sold i want to make my own decisions and if there wrong so be it...
i take your opinions about a part far more serious anyway

RC, what happened to doing this at Mike's shop? Change your mind because he'll be gone for the Baja 1000?

I would absolutely love to do the project at Mike's shop, for several reasons, one is that it would be easier, two is that it would promote Mike's shop, and three is that I think we could record a helluva write-up and/or video segment for JKO or JKO TV, etc... But you hit the nail on the head with Baja though, and I respect that. I want to get this installed in November, which is why I'm going a different direction. So, while the "ideal location" has yet to be determined, I think my garage at Turlock is the back-up.

Well, Jeff and Jason,

Guess it's time to make this my new home. The only reason for me of these forums is to meet people, hang out and wheel. If all the most active people in NorCal are getting banned from JKF then there is zero reason for me to ever go on there again.

I might be able to make it to a wrenching party. I have 85 miles on my new gears and I'm a little concerned about driving 2.5 hours to the city (or livermore) with so few miles on. So I'll try and get some miles on and if I'm comfortable, I can make it.

I have a rear track bar and a rear (replacement stock) drive shaft I need to put on. And, if JMac will help out, I need to re-valve stem all my tires and rebalance.

So, we'll see.

I'm cautiously optamistic. I felt good coming out of the first half, the second half was definately work. But overall I feel good. I dont' get results until January so in the mean time I'm pretending I passed and living my life again.

hey good to see you man...aka blko8jkca on the other boards:thefinger:

Hey now......

I'm out this weekend, but if this lands on the 20th (looks like it did?) then I'd be down. I have a bunch of random crap to get done... cross member, replace a few FT ctrl arm bushings (again), and man I'd love to start dealing with my crumpled lower fenders and body mounted sliders. I'm getting ready to ditch the Rock Hards in favor of a set of those "Jason Mac Special" rails that are all the rage with the NorCal kids these days :smokin:

Hm... pretty big list... of course I'm also down to just chill and drink a few beers -- feel like it's been forever since I've seen everyone... sober that is....

You would have done the con with or without Jason's rock rails.
Don't forget you complained about having them at one point because you were stuck on them and they impeded your clearance :)

White Stars are given to Honorary Lifetime Members only. I only know of one, but you can't see it because his page is white. Trust me, it's there and he drives a white JK too.
