Hey everyone;

This was being discussed in another thread, so I figured I'd post it up for all to see.

Wildomar OHV
Saturday, October 18th
Meet at the first turn-out on South Main Divide Road at 0800.

From there, we'll caravan down to the staging area at Wildomar and tool around for a bit.

As I said in the other post, if south OC folks (or even north OC folks on their way down) want to meet at the Starbucks on Margurite (just north of Avery Parkway), I will be there by 0700. We can then haul the group to meet the others at South Main Divide.

Directions: (sorry, couldn't find a GPS location)
Directions: Take I-5 to San Juan Capistrano. Exit the freeway onto the Ortega Hwy (Hwy74) east bound. Follow Hwy 74 for approximately 23 miles to South Main Divide Road. Turn Right onto South Main Divide Road. Take S. Main D. Rd. for approx. 9mi till you hit The OHV staging area.
From the 15: go west on Ortega Hwy (74) and you will be turning left onto South Main Divide Road.

Meet at the first turnout on South Main Divide Road.

Attendees:
Chris Hansen
Jamez
Lensman (possibly)
Lensman's buddy (will be meeting me at Starbucks)

I am watching to see what develops here.... I could use some wheel time... but BCOD is never a good thing for me. 72 miles to Wildomar for me as well...

How long do you expect to be out there?? Tough to do 150 miles round trip for 90 minutes in the ruts...

What? You think you can lure manly men away from wheeling with the hint of a beer???

Oh....there WILL be beer. Now, whether or not you partake in such activities remains to be seen.

I think you and Jake need to meet us up in the morning, then do whatever you need to do with your fenders later on.

After beer, of course. :thefinger:

Just heard my schedule might be a bit extended tomorrow....so I might have a little more time for  afterward than I thought! Maybe a run out the other side of Main Divide after we try to trick people into going up "Bad Idea" hill.

Jamez
10-17-2008, 04:10 PM
Is that actually passable? I only looked at the top section from the top of the hill, and it was pretty nasty.... I am hoping to find some more challenging stuff there...

I was already thinking that heading up main divide was on my agenda to see what I could find... last time I went through there it was in more of a hurry, so I didn't really check out any of the side trails...

Thanks Puddlz sometimes I think I’m a CMF too…………. I can’t seem to say no to a challenge and it always costs me.
I had a blast as always, thank you all for letting me wheel with you. Chris Hanson, thank you for your dead on spots. Without a good spotter you can't do squat. Chris climbed a hill backwards forwards and sideways to give me the right line this guy kicked @#$!. This was not a trail you could crawl, you had to keep moving, and the dirt was silt with rocks strewn in for additional challenge. Which means Chris Hansen really had to move, and he did, straight up like the true athlete he is. Marbles could not even keep up, the pace was fast (the Camera man) this hill (Bad Idea) is a *****, tough on wheels or foot. This speaks to Chris Hansen’s athletic ability again, holly crap I was winded walking up 1/3 of the way. We scoped it from the top where I was able to pick the line required on the toughest spot.
I spoke to a Florida wheeler who was on a quad he said it was his third time there (his brother lives out here) he could not make it up on a quad. He was into mud has and completely tricked out Ota for the mud pits in Florida. He could not believe us crazy Californians dragging our 50k JK’s through this stuff. 
I did suffer carnage; the plastic rail that the top clicks in to was ripped right off. I was leaning over on my side almost rolled, and a tree limb reached out and ripped it off. Then again I was not sure if it was there or the next point. The top of that hill is tough, if you don’t have the right line you are a goner. I was shaking when I got to the top. I was glad Chris and Marbles, were there to talk with and get me back on equilibrium. After we went around the first corner we were met by a couple of bikers that thought we were #@#&*^#) crazy for trying the hill. When they saw we were able to crest the ***** in the JK, they came blasting around the long way to wish us well. They said they watched from down below and where blown away. They could not make it up or down on the bikes. I have 450X, and there is no way in hell I would attempt this on 2 wheels. The silt and rock would eat you up: (broken shoulder 2 places, feet 4 places, @24 stitches in the knee). I just can’t resist a challenge, however; I would not do this hill on a bike…………… Great fun in a JK I would recommend this run to anybody. Must have lockers, 4 Inches of lift, and sway bar disconnects these tools need to be used carefully. The sway bar disconnects need to be shut off in 2 places or danger of rolling would be sure. I felt like one more inch would have done it. Like I said, the top piece of plastic that holds the soft top made contact and was ripped off. It was probably the only thing that kept me from rolling.
What an awesome day, well the rest of the story is that I followed Chris Hansen to his home and borrowed his rear soft top, plastic piece that I ripped off. He has been kind enough to let me use it, until the one I order on Monday comes in at the dealer.
Thank god for Chris Hansen cause the old lady would have been 10 times worse than bad idea…………..
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next Challenge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Jason got a good shot of the infamous tree that did the damage. I didn't even see it happen on the way up.

Definitely not a hill to be taken lightly. Paul did a great job following the lines as I scrambled to get to the next stable rock and see where he had made it and redirect.

All in all, a really fun day with some great folks. Please feel free to contact me for all your pinstriping needs. My office is off of South Main Divide Road, about 9 miles in from the Ortega Highway.

Paul is da man... :grinpimp: The pictures obviously don't do it justice, but the one where your laid over on the drivers: pucker factor 9.5! Nice job.

For everyone: a while back a large group of folks hit Cleghorn - at the end of the run on Silverlake side, Paul talked about running Pucker Hill... add that to this run and I think no one can question this guy's set of big brass balls. Nicest guy and fearless... oh and he won't drink your last cold one. :grinpimp:
