Does anyone know what the width and backspacing of the stock steel wheels is? I tryed finding specs on Jeeps website, but all they give is the diameter.

The 16" wheels are 7" wide. Not sure of the backspace.

What's the largest tires we can run on the stock steel rims?

Thanks,

The largest tire you can run on the Steel Rims is a 31 inch. You might have to add some wheel spacers, only if you have some tire rub on the sway bar or lower control arms.

The largest tire recommended to be used on a 7" wide rim is a 265/75r-16 but many have gone as big as 285/75r-16 with no trouble.. But at that size backspacing becomes an issue so you might as well get new rims too.

You can get Cragar soft 8s 16"x8" for $54.95 each at Summit Racing.
