Is it ok if I bring my dogs? I tried looking online and couldn't find anything saying to not bring pets. I'll have them restrained in the back seat with harnesses and I'll have poop bags to clean up after them.

Nice quote in your signature, by the way. Love that movie.

Herm, this is about a 6 hr drive for me... but I haven't been riding in forever, so I'm tempted. What all would I be able to expect from this ride? I wouldn't mind a bit of a challenge, but I definitely can't afford to break anything, seeing as it's so far from home and such.

URE is as challenging as you make it. It can be everything from dirt roads to some pretty decent climbs. There's nothing at URE anymore that a pretty much stock vehicle cant do.....

Hey guys. I was wondering if rainfall cancels off-roading trips in URE. I know that it's not considerate to ride on mountain bike trails during and after some rain, but don't know if the same unwritten rule applies to a national forest and off-road vehicles.

Nope!
Rain just makes it more fun IMO.
It gets real slick and the easy trails get a lot more challenging and fun, the hard ones get a little hairy.

So no jeep until monday at the earliest.

07-16-2010, 07:30 PM
Sorry to hear that, Sonic. If you want to ride along, I could pick you up in Columbia. Keep in mind, it'd be early as heck in the morning... haha. Also, if I broke something, you'd be stranded a while. Regardless, sorry about the trans. I had to miss 2 trips due to a driveshaft and axleshaft replacement about 6 months back. Not fun.
I may have two buddies ride along with me on Sunday... does one land use permit cover the whole vehicle? Or do we all have to pay individually?

Sweet. So aside from gas, this is a pretty cheap trip. lol. Speaking of, I assume the outpost will have fuel? or should I gas up before meeting up there? Sorry for the million questions, but a lot of this stuff goes into deciding how early I have to leave to get there. Don't want you guys waitin on me lol

lkynmbr3
07-16-2010, 09:14 PM
From what I saw online, the outpost is a gas station. I've never been there before, it's just what I saw when I looked it up on an online map.

Can you view pictures through Kodak Gallery? That's the site I usually use. I'll try to get some good pictures.

I thought that the military loosened up a bit on what you can view online. My old AF buddies mentioned being able to get onto things like facebook and some other similar sites now.

They are 35's. Just finishing up the suspension. Adj. spring mounts, I know you would rather have them welded, but I still feel the u-bolts have more advantages. Drive shafts, Gears, and longer brake lines. Might give 37's a try next year;).

Ok. Uploading the pictures and one video to Snapfish now. Hopefully everyone, including our military and government internet using friends, will be able to view them there. The sizes were too big to post here, and there are too many to resize. So hopefully everyone doesn't mind clicking on a link to view them all. They are also in no particular order. The site mixed them all up.

He was from Carolina Crawlers or something like that, and had arrived pretty early. I told him he was welcome to join us while he waited on others to show up. Part way through one of the trails, another XJ showed up and they both took one of the roads that we crossed over with our trail.
