I'll be on vacation for the next few weeks, but I definitely will go back soon. Its worth the trip. We liked the campground, too. I'd wait till it cools down a bit- it was alot of 'work' and it was hot out. Sweaty and dirty!

Yeah a serious nap is in order. What a weekend! I couldn't make it passed the first obstacle without getting winched so I didn't go. I went wheeling around by myself for several hours and then I bumped into everybody on the last few miles of the trail via another trail. That trail is no joke. 10 times harder than John Bull!
FYI Jason: no one had open diffs. You MIGHT make it though. Really Really hard trail.
I bent my rear driveshaft and had to drive home with front only :shaking:

We decided to take 86s down past the Salton Sea then east to Julian, then so to I-8. Not the best choice! It was hot. Not regular hot. Hotter. 117 degrees hot. BTW- the JK a/c stops working around 112.

We got to the campground at about 5pm, after a long hot drive down. We liked the campground- not crowded, shady, right next the the trailhead. Had a racoon hanging around fri nite was kinda cool. Woods came out and camped with us, and Billy Goat showed up early the next morning.

We met up with AdamORW in the morning for the run. He had his whole crew with him and we were glad he did. All good peeps. Thanks to all the guys for all the help! And for showing us your awesome trail!

We ended up with about 12? rigs on the run. Adam's crew had some very nicely built rigs- all were very capable.

Billy was entertaining as usual! I am thinking about changing his name to Bronco Billy (Goat)!!! DO NOT TELL HIM THAT HE CANNOT MAKE IT! Unless you want to see him GO FOR IT!

Woods had a month to install his winch for this run but....thats right....he installed it at the trailhead 15 minutes before we went wheelin'! And needed it about 10 minutes after that!!! It works.

The trail is very challenging and FUN! Lots of different lines to choose--- usually none that are easy. You know its a great trail when you have been on the trail for about 3 hours, and you can still see your camp about 1/4 mi away!

We all left with respect for BP. Really had a great time!

Michelle took lots of pics- here they come.

Did I mention that I was the FIRST 4 dr JK EVER to make it???:bounce::D:D

Thanks for posting up the pics Hundy. And Good work getting them Michelle. It was a fun trip despite me bringing a knife to a sword fight. Everybody was really cool and very helpful. Even though people encouraged me not to continue they always gave me the option and I appreciate that . Basically they would have dragged me through it and that wouldn't have been fun for anyone. I found sidewinder trail and it provided me with the challenge I needed. Thanks everybody!

You may have to add one more qualifier on that claim- yours was the first green 4-dr on 33's to make it.

Rick Moreno's nicely setup 4dr did the trail back in April. He didn't have to take the bypass on the last hill too. He kicked all of our TJ asses on that day.

Ive got a shotgun seat open for ya if you like and your welcome for the vid, it takes talent to get both driver side tires off the ground and live to talk about it. I really HAVE to get a BP night run in this year, but my Jeep is still broke dik in the driveway. I have the biggest pile of brand new parts in the garage but no time to install them. How are wrecking ball and outer limits compared to sledge?

AdamORW

How are wrecking ball and outer limits compared to sledge?

Outer Limits
The newest and perhaps the most technical of the trails, with a minimum rating of 5.You travel out around the hills to the east. Then work your way across the rough alluvial, following the cairns and enter the canyon. Up another twisty rocky climb, not as steep as Jackhammer. Then through three squeezes which will leave their mark on your short wheelbase vehicles. One of the squeezes requires putting one of your tires on top of rocks and snaking through off camber. This trail is not for full-size vehicles. 35 inch tires and front and rear lockers

Wrecking Ball
This trail is the tightest and most technical of all our trails. Some will regard this as the toughest and very demanding trail. 36 inch tires and front and rear lockers

Clawhammer
This is the baby of the hammers. When you think baby, think baby Huey. A full 4+, a little shorter than the others but still very demanding. A full-size can make this run. We have added an optional 5+ canyon at the top which is very loose and steep. 33 inch tires, rear locker and front limited slip.

Here is a good run at Fun in the Desert for you guys

Fissure Mountain
For those that are not ready for the hammers or want to go on an easier run. Most vehicles can do it with a moderate lift, under armor, 32s and a rear locker or limited slip or 35s with out locker if you dare. The beginning of the trail is a 3+ for about 1 mile than it gets easier and sightseeing over all the valleys in the area. we also cross the Landers fault line and can see it in both directions. near the end of the trail you can split the group up for the more equipped vehicles to make a run at the original jackhammer its a 3+ with a 45 degree climb down the side of the mountain only the better equipped vehicles will be allowed to do this part of the run

Hey Billy,
I was having a laugh with Jason for a quick sec there, I felt this was ok because I rode shotgun with him at EJS when my Jeep was still being built, but since you decided to chime in...

The comments I made on the trail were justified, you should not have been on Bronco Peak with your rig. This has nothing to do with your driving ability. As far as comparable equipment, I worked my ass off for my rig and take pride in the fact that manufacturer’s want me to display and use their product. You were on a JKOWNERS.COM run and were a guest on it. If a person that is there to make sure that everyone is safe and has a good time says that you need to stay behind. You should head their warning and swallow your pride. I was not trying to make you look bad or puff my chest saying I was a better driver or better equipped, only stating that you were not prepared for that trail. If you choose to take that as a personal attack that is your issue, not mine. I think that everyone on this forum is aware their abilities and welcome advice from people that have a little more experience with familiar trails.

As I type my response now I see that you just retracted your previous feeling of a personal attack but feel that you still harbor a slight grudge towards me. I apologize if I said anything that hurt your feelings but I had the best interest of the group in mind.

It's all good Adam. I didn't mean to over react like that. Your alright.

That bronco peak really is Insane. I need to fix some things on my undercarriage. Tweaked brackets, bent or sheered off bolts, dented shock, and alignment. The least of my worries really. I've been on the rag all week due to problems at work. :pissed:

Hey bud,

Yeah, wanted you to be there with us. Did you do Bronco Peak, then come down the BP connector (ends at that camp ground), or did you start at the camp ground? Either way, that's a great trail.

Billy read that you planned to be in Big Bear last Saturday. We ended up doing a run down Dishpan. He heard that you'd be on Channel 14, so we tried to hail you a couple times. What trail did you run?

Well lets just say I ended up coming down John Bull with no drive shafts (broke front and rear) :D :bawling:

I had planned on doing a lot more trails but since i had no drive shafts I had to come back to SD.

does anyone have a stock front shaft that I can get??

I got the rear take care of thanks to Adam at ORW.

For the record. This was not my original line. I did not drive over the rock up the center. My rt front tire was on the rock and when it went over the end my rear tires dropped in holes. After trying to get myself off this is where I ended up. ("FU" SDMF:thefinger:)

Jeff,
Bronco Peak is a trail that comes right off of the corral canyon campground. It's 130 miles from our house. take the 15 to the 8 east. Go past Pine valley and get off on Buckinham. It's back there. Here is some info from Dirtopia (http://www.dirtopia.com/wiki/Corral_Canyon_OHV_Area)
I can't believe you havn't heard of it either??? I thought you were a hard core wheeler?????:thefinger: Maybe that Prius is wearing on you. (did I say that out loud?) :D

Bronco peak on Google maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=32.705601,-116.563432&spn=0.11,0.18&q=32.705601,-116.563432(Bronco+Peak))
