I met up with some other Jeep folks in the area this Sunday and we ran Ma Bell, one of the best trails in New England. All in all my JK did great, but my tires brought the suck on smooth rock face again. :x :wall: In a few weeks I'm going to the EC4WD TrailFest so you can bet that someones going to be busy with a siping knife between now and then! :yup:  Here's a link to the entire gallery (http://ipedog.smugmug.com/gallery/5555287_ZnEyo"%20target="_blank) http://ipedog.smugmug.com/photos/340326051_6wzci-XL.jpg http://ipedog.smugmug.com/photos/340326285_ShDMk-XL.jpg http://ipedog.smugmug.com/photos/340326927_WV7Sm-XL.jpg http://ipedog.smugmug.com/photos/340327189_j42mc-XL.jpg http://ipedog.smugmug.com/photos/340325739_jHiwx-XL.jpg http://ipedog.smugmug.com/photos/340325533_qozY9-X2.jpg

That's a beautiful trail. The Rubi looks good out there. Looks like you had a good group with you. Nice pics.

Because there was a 75% chance of t-storms all day long. I didn't mention it up above but right about the time that the Grand Cherokee (wj?) and I got to the summit we started hearing big thunder booms. We thought... that they were going away so we worked to get the rest of the group up behind us.

No thunder for a while and then all of a sudden BOOOM!!! :shocked:The skies opened up like Noah needed to go surfing! Twas not pretty. We quickly turned about (while giving the on-trail weather prognosticator a ration of well deserved crap) and made our way back down the steps.

It was raining so hard that at one point as I was going down one of the steps with the JK flexed, enough of a gap was made between the roof and the forward freedom top pannel that it was like someone shot a hose on me from the gap by the door.

Yeah, it would have been nice to have the Safari top on but the weather said no and I'm glad I made the call I did. OTOH, I really hope that the weather is good in two weeks when we go to the EC4WDA TrailFest. I'd be nice to finally get to use the damn thing. LOL

I can't say anything, after the 5 hour drive home on Sunday, I immediately put the full doors and hard top on. Call me a sissy, but I'd had enough of not been able to use the cell phone due to the noise, and sweating even with the a/c on full. I'll keep on until the next wheelin' trip. I was amazed how quiet and cool the Jeep is with the hard top back on, in comparison it's like driving a lux SUV :D

Well seeing as a good sized branch fell right on the roof during a particularly close BOOM I have no issues with my decision... although I'll be in the workshop soon trying to figure out a home made solution to the ridiculously expensive OEM door surrounds so that I can make this thing weather proof and soft top at the same time.

Yeah, when the heat and humidity spike I really don't feel all that bad about having the hard top on :laughing::laughing:

I'll give you that. I lived in Alabama for a year when I was in the Army and the heat/humidity there made a heat wave in New England look like a balmy day.

Looks like a fun trail for sure. It reminds me that I need to get out again very very soon and wheel my JK again.

Hey, how do you like those Dyna Pro tires and how are they working for you overall?

Yes, wheeling is good! :grinpimp:

Well.... I have sort of a love-hate relationship with my tires. I love that they have very tough sidewalls and can handle very low tire pressures (the pics above are at 10psi). I love that they are a great trail tire. If the terrain is not smooth they get great traction. Rough rock is awesome. But smooth rock is their downfall. They just can't get grip on smooth stone. If the slab is long enough that you can't get a tire to something rough then forget it. Thats why I hate them. :pissed:

If you're looking at the Dyna Pros because you're shopping at a price point then I'd strongly recommend looking at the Maxxix Bighorn Radials instead. I've seen that tire on an identical vehicle scoot right up things that the Dyna Pros were spinning on.

Thanks for the info and much appreciated. I've been wanting these for various resons. I've heard they are very quite and smooth and last a bit longer than a comparable tire. Plus sure, price helps too. My JK is also a daily driver so I have to keep that in mind.

I'll definitely check out the other tire you recommended. I do like the new BFG KM2 but have heard they seem to wear rather quickly?
