Just got back from the Tahoe area and had a blast running some trails. This was the first time out to test out the new lift and tires and I came away impressed. It is truly amazing the obstacles that look really difficult that the Jeep just motors through without a problem.

First day ran the Blackwood Canyon / McKinney Creek trails on the west shore of Tahoe. The scenery was awesome as the trail skirts a half dozen small lakes. Had a blast, but nothing on these trails was that difficult, even for my relatively limited skills. Unfortunately didn't get any pictures - it was the first day and we were having too much fun driving!

Second day ran the Bear Valley Loop, northeast of Truckee off of 89. This trail was quite a bit more difficult and tested the limits of my abilities a couple times. Made it up a couple of the more difficult obstacles, including Winch Hill and Ball Peen Hill, but not without a couple minor trail scars to show for it! Much of the trail winds through a large burn area (maybe 3-4 years old), so it was a little hot from the lack of shade. Also, the trail is a bit overgrown and bushy in spots, particularly through the burn area. Had even more fun on this trail, but we made a point to try and get some pics:

That looks like a fun trail.Thanks for the report. Now I have a couple of new trails to do. The pictures look great. Man, I can't believe there's still all that smoke in the air. I can't recall a fire season worse than than this year. Seems like the entire state is filled with smoke.

Hey Cab76, I just did the Bear Valley trail myself with 7 other JK's 5 weeks ago (will post pics soon) and have shots of the same exact places as you were on. I also did Winch Hill and Ballpeen as well with my totally stock Unlimited Sahara and no lockers. it was tough in some places and almost didn't make it up one of the hills but the Jeep made it through all of it with only a few smal pieces of tire tread knobs ripped off. Needless to say these JK's keep impressing me the more trails I take it out on and especially in stock form. Let me know if you're up to go wheeling some time! :)

Nice work in the stock Sahara by the way! I'm still a relative newbie when it comes to off-roading - I doubt I could have made it up one or two of the more difficult obstacles in a stock unlocked JK Unlimited. And if I did, my JK would undoubtedly be more beat up than yours!

Will definately let you know Cab76 the next time we go somewhere which will hopefully be real soon. Plus now that the smoke is clearing up it should be much nicer and enjoyable up in the mountains. :beer:
