I love single action Ruger's. I got a friend in Ft Worth that keeps a Super Blackhawk in his truck with a 10.5 in barrel. That thing looks HUGE.
chili_p 03-25-2010, 11:28 PM Here is my Colt Anaconda in 44 Mag. The holster is from David Johnston Leather out of Alaska. His web site is down but the holster is top notch. He was the only person making what I was looking for. Its a cross draw/chest harness so you can still carry a back pack. Plus no one makes holsters for Anacondas in leather that I could find. Ok enough rambling and onto the pic. It's not my best work but good enough.
GreenAmphibious 03-26-2010, 03:14 AM have yet to pull the trigger(pun intended) on a hand cannon. 9mm is the biggest I have

It will rock your world the first time you shoot it. I've never shot a handgun that I can compare it with. The first box of rounds I bought was 500gr Hornaday. They pack some serious recoil. You can go with some 300gr ammo and it's alot more tame. Once I got used to the weight and recoil I found that the 500 is very accurate. I can place a shot in the kill zone at 50yds without any trouble. My shooting technique is different than any of my other handguns. I hold the gun pointing up and cock the hammer. Then I bring the gun down slowly and as soon as the High Viz front sight lines up in the cradle of the rear sight I "touch" the trigger. I use the word "touch" because of the hair trigger on the single action. I enjoy shooting it and would make more trips to the range with it if the ammo wasen't so damn expensive. That's the only drawback to owning one of these monsters.

TEXASKEV 07-19-2010, 10:11 PM I have a Glock 22. What is the 'kick' difference between the two? Hope that's not a dumb question, but I've never fired anything over a .45.
RubiRed Unlimited 07-19-2010, 10:35 PM but no one that knows how to use them?! Where's the target? Show me the hit. I can hold heavy metal too and point it at a dead lens...just sayin'.:)
08_Sahara16 07-20-2010, 06:13 AM Haha, like RebiRed said, anyone can point at a dead lense, let's see the aftermarth of the targets.
This thread is like a climax for my eyes. I loved the Desert Eagle and the 1911
Renzo Fighter 08-29-2010, 06:57 PM i have a video of my eagle making a pumpkin explode. ill see if i can find it, or just make a new one.
honestly the .50 cal dosent kick alot, its an amazing weapon.
these are only a few of my toys, lol, im sorta a gun crazed guy
kerryp 08-29-2010, 07:16 PM I have a Glock 22. What is the 'kick' difference between the two? Hope that's not a dumb question, but I've never fired anything over a .45.
Theres a pretty big difference between the glock and a 50. I have never had the pleasure of shooting the desert eagle 50, but I have shot the S&W 50 and even though its not near as bad as I thought it would be (I thought 44 mag was worse), is still has a wallop to it, although the S&W tends to come straight back....
Glock doesn't do this:

the eagle dosent kick much at all! i love shooting it, just wish it wasent almost 2.00 everytime u pull the trigger!!
kerryp 08-29-2010, 07:40 PM Yeah, thats one of the reasons I don't own a hand cannon, its too expensive to shoot. Biggest I have is .357, at least so far.. :grinpimp:

Davesrb 08-30-2010, 09:19 PM What make and caliber is this beast???
This is my Dad's Colt M1917 in .45 Long Colt. He had it modified for PPC competition with an added sight rail, bobbed hammer, cut down trigger guard custom grip, and who knows what tweeking to the internals. This thing has the sweetest, lightest action of any revolver I have ever handled. The gun was modified by a military gun designer in the 60's.

2k2wranglerx 10-01-2010, 12:22 PM How do you like that pistol? I recently got one in on trade and I am not sure if I should keep it or get something else.
so i finally did get some practice in with it. man that .45 LC is a dirty round! coulda been from the .410 too though :) took me a while to get it clean.
my impressions were it's good for what it's for. close quarters self defense. I'm carrying mine in my truck with .410 winchester self defense ammo. i was impressed with the performance of that ammo at the range. Nice spread, exactly what i wanted.
as far as comparing it to another revolver, it will fall a bit short. the trigger pull is on the heavy side, and it's heavy on the nose. that takes some getting used to.
I really like the gun, and it's my "in the truck" gun.
My Ruger .44 Mag (next to my Kimber .45 for perspective).
Followed by a hit/aftermath. Hunting Javelina with a rifle isnt very challenging so we go open-sight handgun for a little more fun.

szabla 01-22-2011, 04:11 AM I have a freedom arms 454 casull.
I met Jack Fulmer about 12 years back and discussed the 454 casull I had with him. This gun is designed to handle pressures of well beyond the advertised amount of 60000 psi. The demonstration gun he had was loaded to 110000 psi. He told me, I can load my 454 till the prime flattens, then back of a grain or 2.
If this was tried with the Ruger 454 or the Smith 460/ 500 they would “explode”.
There is also the problem of the smiths and Rugers recoil on the wrist. The Casull is made to rotate in your grip so as to absorb the recoil. (I had a Ruger 454 and gave it away)
I have used this gun in Ak in Brown Bear country and would not use the Smith or Ruger. Hell they weren’t even pushed out of a cookie cutter yet.
The Freedom Arms 454 Casull has more energy at 100 yards then a 44 magnum at point-blank. With custom hot loads it is in the magnum rifle range.

I shot one of those casulls. That is one sweet shooting pistol. I bet we sat there and shot 20-30 rnds at 12" steel plates at 100yrds. Talk about some fun. But regardless...
Here's the barrett if its allowed. I also enjoy the kimber pro carry in .45!

Bought used- maybe 100-200 rounds through it......just a guess. Very clean, not a scratch or blemish besides some light lead/ primer on internal components. $800 out the door with case, progressive and standard compensator, alan & star keys, scope rail (that I removed in favor of of a fiber optic front and factory adjustable blade rear). Few other things.
Fun with 454 Casull 260gr and 460 Hornady 200gr FTX. No fun with 45 Colt.
Would like to shoot some hotter CorBon or Buffalo Bore through it, for kicks. FWIW- The Casull rounds make the gun kick harder than the FTX rounds.
