Well I have bitten the bullet. I have ordered a trailer for my JK. :bounce:

Yeah I know it is a 4-door and I *should* have all the room in the world, especially when compared to a CJ. But I don't. I am a card carrying member of the Cabela's club and have a monster dome tent, two big ass'd cots with the accompanying self inflating air mattresses plus some big sleeping bags and take just Debbie and the dog with me on the trail.

But it's all worth it. Debbie doesn't really like camping until I made her really comfortable and didn't want to buy a travel trailer. So now she likes it but since the dog gets the entire back seat everything has to fit in the back, back and there just is barely enough room. Oh and I have a 98 quart cooler that keeps ice for 14 days!

So needless to say I had to do something and since lightening the load probably wasn't going to be the option..... I have ordered a little trailer.

I looked around. I did some shopping. I found some good deals and some nice people. I also found that a ancient rusted out military trailer must be made of gold.

I checked the usual suspects. But ended up going here (http://www.newimage4x4.com/). Primarily because it isn't a tent trailer and the tail gate comes down for loading (quads and such). It doesn't have a hard top but that should help keep it light. The other advantage was that they are nearby for pick up.

Rick at New Image 4x4 (http://www.newimage4x4.com/) seems like a nice guy that knows what he is doing. I'll post up some pics as I get them during the construction.

Here is our typical run vehicle and we're cramped and loaded to max weight!!! Found that unlike a 5th wheel, I can't also pull our trailer behind the Jeep too!

Although I don't think the motorhome will fit on the boobiecon we can still find some places to explore.

I get by with my little 4x8 trailer for $250 from harbour freight
Carries my bike and all the crap I woulda thrown in the bed of my truck
but then again I don't drag it off road!

That seems to be a key element V. Once your trailer is a specialty suddenly the 250, 500, 1200, 2000 dollar trailer disappears. I priced some of the specialty off road trailers at $10+k! I'm not entirely knocking the price but damn! I mean even if it does cook breakfast, its still just a trailer, right?

I can buy 2 or 3 axle flatbeds all day long. Add a couple grand worth of aluminum and paint a horse on the side, now its worth 10 times the price. For that matter take a toy hauler, rip out half of the back end, strip it to bare metal and charge 3 times for it because you can put a horse in it.:shaking:

Ive already got him chompin at the JK to do some sliders/fenders/bumpers for me...and Im gonna get one of the trailers too...to haul the quad/etc with going from a fullsized 4door truck to a 2dr JK its a bit of a storage change!!

That thing looks sweet Michael. I have been looking at them as well. By next summer I will grab one. You'll have to give us a full write up!

Heck ya I will post up more build pics as I get them and will definatley post up some first use and some excursions uses for the trailer.

I will have to add that Rick (http://www.offroadtrailerz.com/) has been very accommodating to my wishes and is understanding to my frustration as to why I don't have more pictures and are seeing more progress. One of Rick's primary fabricator is out after his wife as had an emergency C-section and Rick is reluctant to allow anyone else build my trailer as he wants the trailer to be top notch. And I'm being impatient. I want it now dang it! So Rick told me to take a deep breath and relax. It will be done and I'll be very happy with it but he doesn't want to cut corners and expedite my build by sacrificing the trailers quality.

I guess I can live with that but damn it, I want it now! :bawling:
