: My 1911
Here's a pic of my Springfield Armory loaded MC Operator. I recently got back into shooting and have put 1200 rounds through it since January. I just got a new cobra mag that I am looking forward to trying out tomorrow. :D

WTF_LOL 05-27-2008, 08:54 PM Funny you post that. I recently had a deal available to me that was very similar. Unfortunatley I sat on the offer and let the deal pass up as I didn't have the cash (read: needed Jeep crap, lol)
Since you have had a few rounds through it what is your opinion/feedback? I have always been happy with Springfield in the past...

I can honestly say its the best handgun I have owned. I have not had a single issue with it. It's a better gun than I am a shooter, haha.
And it's just like the damn jeep, looking forward to modding it.

MarcM 06-13-2008, 07:44 PM Those are some nice looking 45's! My 1911 is an a model A that looks like it has been through both world wars. It probably has, now that I think about it. Anyway, it's beat to ****, but I love it. I wish it could talk. I am sure there are some stories it could tell.

Marc, I'd like to see some pics if possible...I collect original 1911's....
MarcM 06-14-2008, 04:59 PM I will get some pictures up this weekend. I am at work until 2200 tonight, so some time in the next three days I'll get some pictures up. I have an old military 38 too, if you want me to take a few of that one, too. I mean, since I will have the safe open and all:smokin:
MarcM 06-15-2008, 11:26 PM OK, here are a few of my old 45. Not pretty, but she is historic!

Very nice Marc...
I am diggin that, I'm a huge fan of older weapons...and even more so when they have a history of combat.
Ctimrun 06-21-2008, 09:33 PM Weapons that were used in combat kick serious ass!
MarcM 06-21-2008, 10:02 PM I agree! I have a few weapons that are of WW2 era, but I do not know anything about where they were used. I have a "parts" Garand made from war era parts, an IBM M1 carbine, a Carcano carbine and a big old Mason Nagant rifle with a nice and clean Commie stamp, dated 1943. I wish they could talk!
MOJAVEGREEN 06-22-2008, 12:03 AM Its good to see these classics still out there, I was just looking at the springfield site today at their modern offerings of the 1911. After all these years, the design is still close to perfection. Nice handguns guys!
RiggerMike 06-22-2008, 09:03 AM If you dont mind a girl, I like shooting :)
Girls who like to jeep and shoot are always welcome.
MarcM 06-23-2008, 04:23 AM Are we are under attack......
Mosin-Nagant's are cool! My uncle has several of them...when the big gun show comes through here I am going to be on the look out for one. Something with a lot of history that you can pick up cheap. I'll also be looking for an sks. I used to have an older Springfield M14, favorite gun I have owned! Of course they cost so damn much now I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon.
MarcM 06-24-2008, 11:30 AM I want a Thompson M1A1, a BAR, a MP40, and a few other things I will never be able to get in California. I probably would not be able to afford getting them all before I died anyway, they are so damn expensive. Lucky for me, I have the use of some cool stuff. I just cant take them from the range.
I got some new VZ grips for myself for Christmas. I also have a Smith and Alexander mag guide on the way that should be here any day now. I'll post up some pics of it after I install it.
Riverkid 12-15-2008, 08:11 AM Nice pistol! I bet you love that baby.
We need to make a shooting trip, I'd love to run some rounds through mine!

It's a sweet shooter.
I do most of my shooting at On Target range, I have a membership there.
Hundy does shooting trips from time to time, I just haven't been free to go to one of them yet.

Nice grips :smokin:
Thanks, VZ makes a ton of cool grips. I never liked the rubber grips that came on it, these feel so much better.

Thank you.
Dustoff '68 12-15-2008, 12:35 PM No Memorex here...or memories, for that matter....WWI Colt re-issue....

Note the absence of scalloped cut outs by the trigger guard, and non-lowered and flared ejection port...finish is Carbonia...the original blueing...still done today by a few custom gunsmiths
That's sweet Dustoff. I would like to get my hands on an original one, but they are a little pricey for me...maybe in a few years.

Colt only made 4000 of them, and I paid $900.00 for her...came in a cardboard box with wax paper...just like they did way back then...I have been offered $2300.00 for her by a collector.;)

I think I saw one on gunbroker a couple weeks ago go for 2k.
Dustoff '68 12-15-2008, 03:25 PM No 1911 pistol should be without a fine "Tanker" holster.....

If any of you guys in OC want to shoot at On Target let me know. I go a couple times a month.
Riverkid 12-15-2008, 05:19 PM I'll roll in. When do you go? I have a couple .45's to play with. It's been a while, I need some pratice (playing with shotguns and getting bored with skeet). Sounds like a good time!
I usually go around 7 at night. I can usually go whenever tho, just have to make sure my wife is home to watch Zakk. I am a member so the other shooter(s) on the lane get a discounted rate. I think it's like 10 bucks.
ChickenHawk 12-15-2008, 05:54 PM hey any ideas where to pick up a tanker holster? My 1911A1 would look damn good in one!

Right in your neck of the woods...Wolcott, VT...go to www.caspianarms.com
ChickenHawk 12-16-2008, 03:33 AM Not only in my neck of the woods, it's basically right up the road and have family there - thanks for the reminder (pounding head on my desk)
So my Smith and Alexander mag guide came in today. Replaced the Springfield MSH with ILS. Assembled the new MSH with a 19lb Ed Brown mainspring and colt mainspring cap, cap pin and retainer pin. If any of you are in the market for a mag guide I highly recommend S&A. You can call up and talk to Alan Smith, he spoke to me at length when I placed my order - really nice guy. The mag guide is a once piece design and is a snap to install provided you are confident in tearing down your firearm :D.
Now I am just waiting for my comp-tac belt and holster to get here. :smokin:
(Christmas presents to me)
Riverkid 12-16-2008, 07:27 PM Sweet setup!:)
Sweet setup!:)
Thank you. The only thing that I really want done now is to get the front strap checkered but that is not cheap so I will probably stick with grip tape.
Riverkid 12-16-2008, 08:01 PM I'm in the same boat. I have the grips you took off on my Gold Cup...
I'm in the same boat. I have the grips you took off on my Gold Cup...
Do you like them? I never cared for them.
I have another set of G10 grips that should be here any day now. I ordered them a while ago before I found the ones I have on it now. They look just like the ones SA puts on their TRP models. If you are interested in them I paid 55 bucks for them.
Riverkid 12-16-2008, 08:25 PM I don't care for it... I might be interested in your other set. What color? Mine is bead blasted SS...
They are black. I'll post up a pic of them when they get here, probably tomorrow.
PhilD 12-17-2008, 09:00 AM I bought some Alumagrips a while back and actually really like them. Note the skateboard tape, poor man's checkering :)
http://www.trailduty.com/temp/grips.jpg
I dig it.
Like the tape, that's my plan too for now. Until I have $350 burning a hole in my pocket.
kerryp 12-17-2008, 09:24 AM I like my pachmayr wrap around grips on my 9, they do a good job of preventing slippage.....
If anyone wants my pachmayr's let me know.
