October's JKFest invasion is a distant memory. 4 weeks of family events and 2 more weeks to follow are going to drive me (even more) insane if I don't wheel soon. Have never been to GWNF and think I should go. I know you guys here go often so I'm putting it out there. November 21, GWNF. Post up!
I suppose we should post up one of those lists...

I'm off the 21st but will have to see what the wifey had in mind that weekend...what kind of trails are you looking to run??? Unless it's completely dry and has been for atleast a week and you have a good clean pair of underwear I wouldn't try Dictums atleast not going up, it's getting too rutted out and it's almost to the point where unless you have a pretty built rig (lockers front/rear winch and atleast 35's) it's not even going to be enjoyable. Then you have the other extreme of flagpole which is nothin more then a fire road with only like 2 spots to even give you a semi chub on excitement. Flagpole does have some fantastic views though if you're into that kind of thing. If you want to stay alittle closer to home there's Peter's Mill in Edinburg which for the first time is pretty cool, but if you're only running a couple rigs will only take like 2-3 hrs to run. I've been wanting to try another trail which is in Strasburg (yet even closer) called state line. They say the actual trail is really nice but it's getting pretty overgrown and you will leave with some nice pin stripping. I'll put myself down right now as a maybe with the lean towards possible depending on what the wife says. If I can go I will be more then happy to lead the run and show you the trail head depending on where we go. The only one I'm questionable about is flagpole.

we used to work 2 10hr days then 2 14hr nights (7a-5p & 5p-7a) that schedule is still worked by the FFs

we (the medics) filed a lawsuit under the FLSA about the way in which we (medics) were paid our OT. we won and are awaiting our monetary award but the city chose to be compliant with the FLSA by changing our schedule to this...

12hr shifts 8a-8p. you are either assigned to steady days or nights, no more rotation.

the days are: Mon & Tues work, wed & Thu off, fri, sat & sun work. the next week is mon & tue off, wed & thu work, fri, sat & sun off.

repeat ad nauseum

I like the sounds of Peter's Mill or State Line. I'm on 32's w/ 3" of lift and some armor, and I know that it has rained for the last 3 weeks. Dictum's might be kind of a stretch for me. I don't mind the overgrowth, as I've said, nature does my pinstriping. ;) Let me know if you can go.

Hey Mike where is this place you're looking to go, in Va?

Yeah Doug. From what Lc619fr tells me about the locations he's talking about, its near the intersection of interstates 66 and 81.

So what's the details on this??? Meeting place/time? Don't forget you need to buy a day pass at certain places it's only 5 bucks.

MadMyk
11-15-2009, 01:09 PM
All right, I've never been out there before, so here's what I think we should do. Why don't we do a meet up out near where 66 and 81 come together at around 8:00. I'm sure there's a gas station you regulars hit up that we can meet at. I'm still trying to round up 2 other rigs but I am all in on this. Lookin forward to meeting up with you guys.

LC619FR
11-15-2009, 03:34 PM
there's an exxon at the 298mm on I81 if you get off the exit turn left it's on the right. We still have to buy the passes but you can get those in woodstock or edinburg.

MadMyk
11-16-2009, 09:26 AM
Ok, sounds like a good plan. See you out there at 8, I've got a CB, and if anyone wants, I'll PM them my cell number.

are we the only 3 in for this?

bluerubicon08
11-16-2009, 07:16 PM
Apparently so............................ now if you'd have picked the opposite weekend when I am NOT working it could have been 4!:D

Have a great time, don't break anything TOO expensive, and take some pictures

LC619FR
11-16-2009, 08:41 PM
I hope nobody breaks anything at peter's mill

MadMyk
11-17-2009, 02:48 AM
Yeah, seems like its just us. I've got another guy I can ask, so we'll see if we can make it 4. Any common breakages at Peter's Mill?

LC619FR
11-17-2009, 01:06 PM
Nope not really just a fun drive in the woods which will be nice because I can't afford to break anything lol

Is that Exxon the one on 11 next to a mickeyD's and a BK? (looking at google maps now)

I'll be cb and cell phone enabled as well, aiming at THIS (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=33899+Old+Valley+Pike,+Strasburg,+VA+22657+(Stra sburg+Exxon+Food+Mart+Inc)&sll=38.999042,-78.347819&sspn=0.025514,0.043731&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=33899+Old+Valley+Pike,+Strasburg,+Shenandoah ,+Virginia+22657&ll=39.003111,-78.34857&spn=0.025513,0.060081&t=p&z=15) exxon unless otherwise pointed in the mean time.

LC619FR
11-17-2009, 06:33 PM
that's the spot.

Alright guys I hate to do this but I have to bail...due to an untimely death in the family it's putting a squash on my plans for this weekend. The trail head is easy to find and I can either give you my cell mike or if Oz has it he can give me a ring. I really hate not being able to go but this is one of those events that I kind of have to be at.

Important things:

You have to buy a day pass. That can be done at the gas station in woodstock. When you get off the exit turn right the gas station will be on the right. It's Cooks Exxon.

It is hunting season mainly rifle season, the chances that hunters paid the 5 bucks to hunt up there are slim but they could be doing it with out a pass, I'd advise some vibrant clothing and NO camo, also if you're bring pups watch out for them.

Watch out for 4 wheelers and dirtbikers they don't like making the right of way for jeeps much less slow down for them.

I really apologize that I can't join you guys I'd much rather be there.

Well, looks like this isn't gonna be happening this weekend. My buddy that was gonna be riding with me wouldn't be able to show at the needed time, and Zac (with the recovery equipment) dropping out, guess that kinda sealed it. Won't be a total loss for me tho, I'll be able to put on my RROR snorkel this weekend :grinpimp:

Well good luck with the snorkel...you don't need any recovery equipment for peter's mill unless you go somewhere you're not supposed too:thefinger:
