: Rubicon Trail Sept 25-27
rubirobv 09-29-2009, 10:49 PM This was supposed to be the Fordyce weekend. With the creek flowing at 300cfs + , our plans for Fordyce were postponed. So then, what better place to wheel than the Rubicon. JeepThing, Dave ( Red JK), ChromeDome and myself met at Loon Lake around 4:30 pm, friday. We wheeled to Ellis Creek and camped. Next day wheeled to the Springs, where we camped that night and the next day we went out through Tahoe. JeepThing had two of his daughters with him. Dave brought his daughter and ChromeDome had his father-in-law along. Weather was perfect. A pleasure to spend the weekend with you all. Met some interesting folks along the way and even had the pleasure of saying hello to Merlin. Thanks to all for an awesome time. Eugene and Hundy Crew, we missed you out there. Next time. I have 36 pics that kind of tell the story.

Thanks for posting this up Rob. I can't wait to see the rest of your pictures. On the way home I was thinking there were so many things I didn't even get pictures of, but somehow I still ended up with over 250 pictures! I've been sorting through them and will post up a bunch tomorrow.
It was an incredible trip ... beautiful scenery, huge rocks, and great people! Thanks for the AWESOME job as trail boss. You put a great trip together. It was fun wheeling and camping with everyone.

It must have worked, she drove through there like a champ! Not bad for a 13 yr. old. :D She was pretty proud of herself for taking an obstacle that even Dave didn't try!

This spot, on the way to Big Sluice is tough for a four door JK.

Glad you had good weather! No carnage?

toadontheroad 09-30-2009, 12:40 PM See! That's what I was talking about a few weeks ago. I can never take pics a good as those! Nice Job Rob! I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to run Old Sluice. Did you go with doors? Every else did. Guts! That turn before Big Sluice around that boulder IS a trouble maker for 4 doors. I was there for a bit trying to keep it clean.
I am jealous you have run the Con so many times this season. Way to go, man!
JeepThing 09-30-2009, 12:43 PM Kelsie, Brooke and I had a great time with everyone. It was our first time with the JK on the Rubicon and it did great. What an awesome place, I can't think of a better way to spend the weekend! Thanks again to everyone for making this a great trip.
No carnage, just a lot of new rock rash!!

The Girls were great fun to have along, Kelsie even drove though spots I bypassed. Future Queen of the Hammers...?

My bad! They did do a lot more throwing than catching. You're right, Bella was eating most of the marshmallows that night, wasn't she. I wasn't going to put that on here for Mrs. Chromie to see though. :D Remember, no people food for Bella.
Queen of the Hammers? Yah, she loves rock crawling! Before you know it, I won't even be able to drive my own Jeep on the trail!

Brigitta 09-30-2009, 08:28 PM Awesome pics!! Thanks for posting them up, wish we would have been able to go, but had already committed to a party for daughter's 18th b-day.

Would have been fun to have you along. I'd invite you to try out your Rubicrawler on Fordyce with us next month, but then we'd all be suffering from Rubicrawler ENVY!! Just kidding, come on over.
That's awesome! I'll bet you can't wait to try it out.
RODICON 09-30-2009, 10:55 PM Sweet pics, one of my favorite trails. Have you done the Dusy trail?

Post up the dates and we'll see if we get the Rubicrawler installed in time. (We've been on a waiting list for it since last year)
Despite this recent cold snap, October is usually a beautiful time to hit the Sierra's. We have hit snow on Rubicon this time of year but usually Rubicon and Dusy have always been beautiful in October .
PUDDLZ 10-01-2009, 03:51 PM Looks like fun times guys :D
