I put the 9.705 beta software version on my MyGig and thought Iíd share.

The install was easy, simply burn the files to a CD (as a data CD not audio). You should have 2 files (cd_Info.cdi and config.cdi) and a folder (becker). Insert the CD in the MyGig and after a few seconds it will ask if you want to update version 9.(your current version) to 9.705. Press yes and 15 minutes later you will be updated.

Go into the engineering mode (press seek up, seek down and menu at the same time). The very last menu option is the one weíve been waiting for :D Press Enable JK VR/HFM :smokin:

Exit engineering mode and go to system setup and marvel at the new options for phone pairing and VR.

Pair you cell phone 0000 is the pin for most phones. Enable pairing on your phone like you would connect a Bluetooth headset. Like magic your Jeep now knows about your phone.

Call your cell phone to test. It will automatically turn the radio sound down and prompt you to press uconnect or say answer and answer the phone for you. No need to call and thank me, I have caller ID ;)

I donít have a mic yet to test VR but found a $20 mic lockpick sells as a stand alone. Iíll have mine on Monday. Iím 95% sure I now have all the functionality Jeep disabled for a grand total of $20 for the mic (plus shipping).

Here are some more screen shots

Note the new breadcrumb tracker button. You can save your tracks, which giving my navigation skills when wheeling will help ;)

You can now use VR to enter destinations without having to stop the Jeep.

Other changes are real traffic updates that show on the maps.

One other thing to mention is the nav. When you first update the system you get a blue map screen and need to drive around the block for it to re sync.

I havenít noticed and bugs but this is beta so there probably are some.

I was lucky and found it a link before it was taken down. PM me if you want a link :)

I think all the Wrangler mygigs have the UConnect and VR buttons (top right on the radio) but Jeep didnít include a mic so they are disabled. With a mic and this update all that functionality becomes available.

One of the other nice features is the traffic updated on the nav software. On the freeway today the roadway turns different colors depending on the traffic and it was actually accurate. It even tried to reroute me onto surface streets.

I put the $20 mic from LockPick in tonight and it works great. I tested all the VR stuff and it works (even with my English accent ). I called a friend out of the blue while I was driving (with the soft-top and soft windows in my half door) and didnít mention anything about testing (so as not to sway the results). I carried on a normal conversation and he didnít realize I was even in the car.

I canít compare this to other products for MyGig but it seems as good as any other hands free setup Iíve had. Iím happy to report that I have an inexpensive solution for Bluetooth and VR in my Jeep :)

The install was easy, especially if youíve already taken the center stack apart before. Took me all of 5 minutes.

I put the mic to the driverís side of the top panel. It pushes the top over slightly but itís hardly noticeable. If I like this location Iíll cut a little plastic out of top and it will fit perfectly.

Make sure you burn it as a data CD, use a slow burning speed setting like x2 or x4 use a good quality brand name CD not the $2 for 100 variety.

Yes, I can confirm that since he called me. The only problem with the mic is that it doesn't change that wanker accent. :D

Can you post me a link that I can download the update you have for MyGig? I just picked up a new Sahara Unlimited w/MyGig. Love it, but of course want to make UConnect work like everyone else. It definitely needs a Map update since it is totally unaware of restaurants and gas stations that are about 1 to 2 years old but will cover that ground later.

I put 9.712 on mine today and it seems to have fixed a couple of the bugs in 9.705. This is where I downloaded it http://mofv.com/MyGIG/WithNav/RER_9.712.zip.

This is beta too so do this at your own risk.

Nothing terrible but 9.705 was an earlier beta version after all. It had a few little bugs and weird things would happen, like the map would go blue, addresses would disappear, my cell phone would disappear etc. It was always fine the next time I started it. I just assumed 9.712 has a few more bugs fixed.
