Yep. Since I manage a body shop and I have unlimited acces to a professional painter, a booth and paint and I had dr.dirty's old hood I thought I'd consider a new paint scheme on my Jk. I've done the hood first to see if I like the color. I'll most likely run it with just the hood for a while and see if it's something I want to do.

Ok, I can see how the Lambo color would go with Silver, but those the PS pics don't do it for me.

Maybe the Orange with the silver as an accent color to set it off.... but those pics are to much silver.

Any suggestions? I don't want to do it all orange. It's just too much for me. My original intent was just to do something on the hood since it's an extra. I sprayed the whole hood just to see if I like the color. I'm still deciding what I like. I like flames but all of the flames my painter laid out looked like seaweed or kelp! :shaking:

Personally, I wouldn't have painted the hood the second color as that commits you too much orange up top and because of the soft top being black it just doesn't flow right.. and the fade just lookshttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/hitmoney/smilies/florian.gif

I would have done the armor orange as an accent.. But now that the hood is orange you could repaint the hood silver except for 2 large orange stripes, then do either the armor orange or just the armor bolt heads orange to tie it in.

eek. $100 for just the hood. That's some pricey paint.

I like the look of this but it needs some more dark gray/charcoal accents. The faded black of the soft top is the perfect color, I think. The problem with the photoshop pics is that the jeep has way too much flat space to just mask off a line and paint it. It would be like painting the first floor of the exterior of your house silver, and the upstairs orange. All of it, including trim. :puke:. If you paint the house 2 colors and the trim and shutters a different color, you might be able to pull it off.

This bike from google image search looks cool because the orange and silver are broken up with "stuff" that darkens the whole thing so it doesn't blind you. http://recreation-cadres.chez-alice.fr/Formula%20silver.jpeg

This CamelBak pulls off a similar look. Its busy so the orange doesn't look bad, and the third color really makes it look good.

http://media.rei.com/media/zz/683a11dc-f105-4847-a770-1d130411bb2f.jpg

Do the small panel between the hood and the windshield in dark gray. Maybe the grill too. How about doing the hinges and windshield bracket in black to match the rockers and bumper? I like how the orange goes down the front quarter panels in front of the fenders. That would look sweet with a dark gray grill and silver fenders.

Tire tracks like Venom's might be cool. It would break up that HUGE horizontal line pretty well.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/hitmoney/Jk%20Of%20The%20Month/Venom/venomjkotm1.jpg

This is a tough one to pull off. Just plain two-tone and it looks like a donk. Might as well add spinners and lower it:thefinger:. Too much vinyl or striping and it takes a hard left into ricer territory. I do think that somewhere between those two, there is a bad ass paint job in the works.

Bryan.

Those are all valid points Bryan. Thanks! What you point out is why I have reservations. I was looking at it last night and thought of possibly painting black between the front door glass and the rear through the B pillar. It might break up some of the orange.

fool around with just components like grill + fenders+ doors in the orange.

Maybe have all orange with two black strips up the hood like the old mustangs. Add in some tire treads like venoms on the side. paint the fenders also to match the strips and the grill black. be careful to not turn into the rolling bumblebee tho...

Another variation. I think you'd do well with some black X flares and black wheels. That'd bring the third color in and help break the "Clackey taxi" look up. I darkened your gray a little too.

Anything to be different Clacky. Go for it and if you don't like, you always have access to the folks and materials to change it again.

Personally, I like the orange. Stands out. The two-tone with only the top painted looks cool. Take the top off and photoshop it again.

Anyway you go, it will be distinct and different and that's cool.
