Bring lots of money and be prepared to be taxed to death.

Welcome to the Golden State of CA. Yep, taxes are higher, cost of living is higher, but well worth it. A modded Jeep will fit in really nice. In my area, they don't mess with people, unless, your headlights are blinding people, and, your tires are flinging crap because they don't have adequate fender coverage. Most of my family would just give you a heads up in a very polite respectful manner, unless you get ****y, and then, an example may have to be set.

California requires you to register your vehicle within 20 days of becoming a resident or they hit you with huge penalties. If you are a AAA member, you can do this at any AAA office in Southern California. Of course this means that you won't get to see the DMV until get your driver's license.
Where are you moving to?

And the state is BROKE,:shaking:

I saw the news where they were giving citations for cell phone usage while driving last night and hate to say but those days of warnings are long gone, its about the money, sucks.

Bakersfield is pretty close to everything, and housing is a buyer market right now. There is large JK community here in town. I believe it is called www.infectiousoffroad.com

Claim 10 dependents on your state W4..cuz if you end up with a return at the end of the year, CA will just send you an I.O.U.
Oh...and they don't pay interest on it.

Ahhh...I love reminiscing on my move from CA back to Vegas!

You will need to bring your jeep and the title for a vin inspection and they will submit it to the DMV so they can issue a new California title. The inspection is just to verify the vin numbers, they won't even blink at lifts and things. Just remember the 20 day rule when you fill out the application..

You might want to look into this club if you move to Bakersfield. I know a number of the folk and it is a good bunch. Not a JK club, but members have everything.

Not sure if this is true because I moved from Cali about 10 years ago. Maybe it's a newer state law.....but I heard that if you have a modified JK and are NOT using Off Road Evolution parts, you can face a $10,000 fine and/or 5 years in prison.

Special addendum for the SoCal residence. If you mention Mel to the local authorities, all violations are forgiven. :thefinger:

Wasn't so bad when I grew up there in Fullerton in the 70's and 80's. Now it is a hell hole.
