I'd like to hear from members who have installed & are running the MOPAR Off-Road Front Bumper on their JK's. I have a 2008 Wrangler X 4 Door and would like to buy one, however, I'd like to know some details before ordering. Here goes....

1. What is the total length of this bumper?
2. Are the very ends in-line with the ends of the front fenders?
3. What is the distance from the right end of the bumper to the beginning of the "Jeep" trademark? I am thinking of shortening the ends, but want to retain the "Jeep" word. Would like the bumper ends to fall at mid-tire / fender range.
4. What is the height from top to bottom?
5. Do you actually have to remove the front grille for the install? If so, why?
6. How tall is the grille guard? Is the grille guard / hoop straight up & down, or angled to mimic the angle of the grille itself?
7. How far do the push blocks (covering crush cans) extend?

Any & All input would be appreciated. Please send me your pics of frontal views and any mods you've done to avoid using the push-blocks. THANKS! My email for pics is: vickers303@comcast.net

i cant give measurements right now...

i bought mine used from another JK owner. i dont think that the front bumper can be shortened much and retain the Jeep plate. the hoop is angled the same as the grill.

if you remove the front bumper, you dont have to remove the grill. i had already removed the plastic frame cover and spash guard after i bought my Jeep, so i didnt have to worry about that. you only have to remove the grill to get the the plastic caps stick out... roughly 5 inches or so. later on, i am going to get some RR d-ring mounts and cut the cans off. out of money right now, so it has to wait. i have a b/b to install.

Thanks 1bpig for taking the time to respond! You're the only person on 2 JK forums that has gone out of their way. If you have any more details I'd be glad to know them. Send me some pics of you rig when you can.

I did remove the grill when I installed mine. It was really easy though. I guess it's possible to shorten it but like b1pig said you'd probably loose the jeep logo as it's close to the edge of the bumper.

I did the same thing but I'm going to use these mounts. They look beefier than the RR ones I found online.

Okay Steve, I thank you for the information too! I believe I'll look for another bumper, or have one fabricated. I appreciate the site reference.

there are really only two ways to view the front bumpers. full width and stubby. you really are better off getting one that is already the width you like. i think the only exception is the Rugged Ridge bumper. you can outfit it any way you like, one piece at a time if thats what it takes. theres a thrad on that bumper on this form.

Do you really want the crush cans? You could always cut them off and replace the tow hooks with doring shackle mounts.

Thanks, I will look into that, I already have shackle mounts below the bumper but can always remove them if it means not having to spend $700 on a new bumper.

I happen to have one laying in my garage. I just replaced it with a stubby instead of cutting it more. I plan to move up in tire size, max you can do with this bumper full width is 37" tire. There are sharp spikes on each end that with a 37" tire can cut into the tread. I chopped them down a while ago, after loosing a few chunks of rubber. If you were to cut it shorter, you wouldn't have that issue.

1. What is the total length of this bumper?
68 7/8"
2. Are the very ends in-line with the ends of the front fenders?
Not sure, I have Xenon's
3. What is the distance from the right end of the bumper to the beginning of the "Jeep" trademark? I am thinking of shortening the ends, but want to retain the "Jeep" word. Would like the bumper ends to fall at mid-tire / fender range.
4 3/4"
4. What is the height from top to bottom?
Bumper bottom to top - 7"
Bumper bottom to top of bar - 15"
5. Do you actually have to remove the front grille for the install? If so, why?
I didn't install it, so not sure.
6. How tall is the grille guard? Is the grille guard / hoop straight up & down, or angled to mimic the angle of the grille itself?
8", angled back to match the grill
7. How far do the push blocks (covering crush cans) extend?
4"

i've never run anything bigger than a 33" with that bumper (it just worked out that way) but i will say that the powdercoat has held up well to rust/salt. I kept buying them at 4wd hardware in scratch n dent for like 150 bucks. I ran one for a few months and it was fine, my brother has had his on his rig for close to 3 years and it hasn't rusted at all... Which is amazing because everything else has lol.
